For Dr. Michelle Oakley, spring in the Yukon means things are really heating up.
She is one of the few big animal vets across an area as big as Texas and she is back for another season, working 24/7, logging thousands of miles on the ground, on water, and in the air to care for animals big and small. For Michelle, it’s all in a day’s work: saving a horse that has just come in from his winter pasture with a seriously infected eye; lending a hand to a cow as she struggles to give birth out in the freezing cold; or fighting against the odds to save a golden eagle.
Michelle works sun up to sun down, sharing her love for animals with friends, family, and animal lovers from all over the country. She will be there for them when babies are born, youngsters are saved, and when a man must say goodbye to his best friend. Whether its performing field surgery on horses penis, delivering a litter of puppies by C-Section, working into the wee hours to save an eagle from near-certain death, rounding up horses by airplane, or pulling out a calf from danger with chains, Dr. Michelle Oakley is always ready to do what it takes to save one Yukon creature after another…on Dr. Oakley: Yukon Vet.
